Job Description :
Our client has a tailings operation / process plant in the DRC and they are currently seeking an HR Superintendent to facilitate Expatriate staff appointments, documentation, on-boarding and continued monitoring of performance, legal compliance, code of conduct, disciplinary cases, relationship handling, localisation mentoring & coaching and other day-to-day business management tasks. You will also need to take ownership of the Management camp and appointed facility services contract.
Responsibilities :
- Provide support towards expatriate recruitment and retention strategies, processes and support
- Manages all aspects of international employee recruitment (visa & Work permit process, onboarding, demobilization, coordination of housing , compensation and benefits, flights and travel arrangements and leave rosters
- ER – Required to engage effectively and cooperatively with management peers, company stakeholders, subordinates and contractors in the pursuit of continuous improvements in management outcomes, including harmonious industrial and employee relations
- Organizational development – Coach and mentor line supervisors and managers in the use and application of a performance management system, employee support, succession planning, etc.
- Provide coaching to line management on various ‘best-practice’ systems and processes
- Mentoring, performance monitoring, career development for all employees and identify new business improvement opportunities.
- Roll out of corporate projects or policies and ensure delivery of projects as identified
- Provision of assistance to the site management team for employee performance improvement programs
- Liaise with stakeholders and business partners on mentoring initiatives towards achievement of the Localization plan
- Management and leadership of direct staff, their work, time and operational efficiencies
- Assist with the conducting of performance and development reviews of the relevant staff. – Train, mentor and develop subordinates
- Camp & accommodation management , Oversee Facilities Services Contract
- Ensure a professional and high standard of accommodation services and continually building a positive and secure camp culture/environment setting for residents and visitors
- Update and management of the HRIS related to expatriate staff – reporting
- Interface with payroll on new starters / exiting staff, monthly uploads, checks, administrative interface
Requirements – Qualification and Skill :
- Qualified HR/ER/IR practitioner and demonstrated as a successful professional
- Relevant Business/Behavioral Sciences degree (Preference given to candidate with a post graduate qualification)
- 10 years minimum HR/IR/ER experience of which at 5 was at a mid-senior management level, responsible for expat employee management, implementing and management of personnel and HRIS management, Organizational Development processes
- Africa experience essential – DRC experience highly preferred
- Strong people management skills and experience in the mining, energy or resources sectors and business acumen
- Experience demonstrated in establishing management systems within a large industrial development or operational establishment
- Good English skills, both written and verbal. (French an advantage)
- Leadership abilities with good Planning, Leading, Controlling, Organizing skills
- Good communications, both written and spoken
- Able to work under pressure and able to work within a tough environment
