Job Description :

Our client has a tailings opera­tion / process plant in the DRC and they are currently seeking an HR Superintendent to faci­li­tate Expatriate staff appoint­ments, docu­men­ta­tion, on-boar­ding and conti­nued moni­to­ring of perfor­mance, legal compliance, code of conduct, disci­pli­nary cases, rela­tion­ship hand­ling, loca­li­sa­tion mento­ring & coaching and other day-to-day busi­ness mana­ge­ment tasks. You will also need to take owner­ship of the Management camp and appoin­ted faci­lity services contract.

Responsibilities :

  • Provide support towards expa­triate recruit­ment and reten­tion stra­te­gies, processes and support
  • Manages all aspects of inter­na­tio­nal employee recruit­ment (visa & Work permit process, onboar­ding, demo­bi­li­za­tion, coor­di­na­tion of housing , compen­sa­tion and bene­fits, flights and travel arran­ge­ments and leave rosters
  • ER – Required to engage effec­ti­vely and coope­ra­ti­vely with mana­ge­ment peers, company stake­hol­ders, subor­di­nates and contrac­tors in the pursuit of conti­nuous impro­ve­ments in mana­ge­ment outcomes, inclu­ding harmo­nious indus­trial and employee relations
  • Organizational deve­lop­ment – Coach and mentor line super­vi­sors and mana­gers in the use and appli­ca­tion of a perfor­mance mana­ge­ment system, employee support, succes­sion plan­ning, etc.
  • Provide coaching to line mana­ge­ment on various ‘best-prac­tice’ systems and processes
  • Mentoring, perfor­mance moni­to­ring, career deve­lop­ment for all employees and iden­tify new busi­ness impro­ve­ment opportunities.
  • Roll out of corpo­rate projects or poli­cies and ensure deli­very of projects as identified
  • Provision of assis­tance to the site mana­ge­ment team for employee perfor­mance impro­ve­ment programs
  • Liaise with stake­hol­ders and busi­ness part­ners on mento­ring initia­tives towards achie­ve­ment of the Localization plan
  • Management and leader­ship of direct staff, their work, time and opera­tio­nal efficiencies
  • Assist with the conduc­ting of perfor­mance and deve­lop­ment reviews of the rele­vant staff. – Train, mentor and deve­lop subordinates
  • Camp & accom­mo­da­tion mana­ge­ment , Oversee Facilities Services Contract
  • Ensure a profes­sio­nal and high stan­dard of accom­mo­da­tion services and conti­nually buil­ding a posi­tive and secure camp culture/environment setting for resi­dents and visitors
  • Update and mana­ge­ment of the HRIS rela­ted to expa­triate staff – reporting
  • Interface with payroll on new star­ters / exiting staff, monthly uploads, checks, admi­nis­tra­tive interface

Requirements – Qualification and Skill :

  • Qualified HR/ER/IR prac­ti­tio­ner and demons­tra­ted as a success­ful professional
  • Relevant Business/Behavioral Sciences degree (Preference given to candi­date with a post graduate qualification)
  • 10 years mini­mum HR/IR/ER expe­rience of which at 5 was at a mid-senior mana­ge­ment level, respon­sible for expat employee mana­ge­ment, imple­men­ting and mana­ge­ment of person­nel and HRIS mana­ge­ment, Organizational Development processes
  • Africa expe­rience essen­tial – DRC expe­rience highly preferred
  • Strong people mana­ge­ment skills and expe­rience in the mining, energy or resources sectors and busi­ness acumen
  • Experience demons­tra­ted in esta­bli­shing mana­ge­ment systems within a large indus­trial deve­lop­ment or opera­tio­nal establishment
  • Good English skills, both writ­ten and verbal. (French an advantage)
  • Leadership abili­ties with good Planning, Leading, Controlling, Organizing skills
  • Good commu­ni­ca­tions, both writ­ten and spoken
  • Able to work under pres­sure and able to work within a tough environment
