- For our client, a leading international mining organisation in West Africa, we are searching for an experienced Planning Specialist.
 - The Planning Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing maintenance strategies for all port facilities and equipment. This includes coordinating with operations and maintenance teams to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance activities efficiently – minimizing downtime and ensuring equipment reliability and operational continuity.
 - The role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, effective resource management, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
 
Functional responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain detailed maintenance plans for port equipment such as cranes, conveyors, and other critical machinery.
 - Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize operational disruption, balancing preventive, predictive, and corrective tasks.
 - Ensure all planning requirements meet safety, cost, quality, and environmental standards while reducing operational and business risks.
 - Optimize the use of planned shutdowns for inspections, maintenance, and condition monitoring activities.
 - Track and report maintenance performance indicators including reliability, equipment availability, and overall efficiency.
 - Establish and document predictive maintenance programs and condition monitoring practices, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions.
 - Recommend and implement new systems or technologies to enhance maintenance performance and equipment reliability.
 - Provide technical support in maintenance planning, condition monitoring, failure analysis, and reliability engineering.
 - Plan and allocate resources such as manpower, tools, and materials to ensure timely and efficient maintenance execution.
 - Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, track performance, and recommend process improvements.
 - Use SAP proficiently for maintenance planning, scheduling, and reporting.
 - Identify and implement process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce downtime.
 - Conduct detailed post-shutdown analyses to identify lessons learned and improve future performance.
 - Prepare and present reports on maintenance performance, work order status, and resource utilization.
 - Develop and deliver training programs for maintenance personnel on procedures, best practices, and equipment handling.
 - Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance teams to resolve complex issues and improve maintenance practices.
 
Required experience and qualifications :
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
 - Professional Trainer Certification (advantageous).
 - SAP Planning Super User certification or equivalent experience.
 - Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the mining industry, with strong exposure to port or heavy industrial maintenance environments.
 - Experience in developing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
