  • For our client, a leading inter­na­tio­nal mining orga­ni­sa­tion in West Africa, we are sear­ching for an expe­rien­ced Planning Specialist.
  • The Planning Specialist is respon­sible for deve­lo­ping, imple­men­ting, and opti­mi­zing main­te­nance stra­te­gies for all port faci­li­ties and equip­ment. This includes coor­di­na­ting with opera­tions and main­te­nance teams to plan, sche­dule, and execute main­te­nance acti­vi­ties effi­ciently – mini­mi­zing down­time and ensu­ring equip­ment relia­bi­lity and opera­tio­nal continuity.
  • The role focuses on preven­tive and predic­tive main­te­nance, effec­tive resource mana­ge­ment, and compliance with all safety and regu­la­tory standards.

Functional respon­si­bi­li­ties :

  • Develop and main­tain detai­led main­te­nance plans for port equip­ment such as cranes, conveyors, and other criti­cal machinery.
  • Plan and sche­dule main­te­nance acti­vi­ties to mini­mize opera­tio­nal disrup­tion, balan­cing preven­tive, predic­tive, and correc­tive tasks.
  • Ensure all plan­ning requi­re­ments meet safety, cost, quality, and envi­ron­men­tal stan­dards while redu­cing opera­tio­nal and busi­ness risks.
  • Optimize the use of plan­ned shut­downs for inspec­tions, main­te­nance, and condi­tion moni­to­ring activities.
  • Track and report main­te­nance perfor­mance indi­ca­tors inclu­ding relia­bi­lity, equip­ment avai­la­bi­lity, and overall efficiency.
  • Establish and docu­ment predic­tive main­te­nance programs and condi­tion moni­to­ring prac­tices, ensu­ring appro­priate follow-up actions.
  • Recommend and imple­ment new systems or tech­no­lo­gies to enhance main­te­nance perfor­mance and equip­ment reliability.
  • Provide tech­ni­cal support in main­te­nance plan­ning, condi­tion moni­to­ring, failure analy­sis, and relia­bi­lity engineering.
  • Plan and allo­cate resources such as manpo­wer, tools, and mate­rials to ensure timely and effi­cient main­te­nance execution.
  • Analyze main­te­nance data to iden­tify trends, track perfor­mance, and recom­mend process improvements.
  • Use SAP profi­ciently for main­te­nance plan­ning, sche­du­ling, and reporting.
  • Identify and imple­ment process impro­ve­ments to enhance main­te­nance effi­ciency and reduce downtime.
  • Conduct detai­led post-shut­down analyses to iden­tify lessons lear­ned and improve future performance.
  • Prepare and present reports on main­te­nance perfor­mance, work order status, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and deli­ver trai­ning programs for main­te­nance person­nel on proce­dures, best prac­tices, and equip­ment handling.
  • Provide tech­ni­cal guidance and support to main­te­nance teams to resolve complex issues and improve main­te­nance practices.

Required expe­rience and qualifications :

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a rela­ted discipline.
  • Professional Trainer Certification (advan­ta­geous).
  • SAP Planning Super User certi­fi­ca­tion or equi­va­lent experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ expe­rience in the mining indus­try, with strong expo­sure to port or heavy indus­trial main­te­nance environments.
  • Experience in deve­lo­ping preven­tive and predic­tive main­te­nance strategies.
