  • For our client, a leading inter­na­tio­nal mining orga­ni­sa­tion in West Africa, we are sear­ching for an expe­rien­ced Project Planner.
  • The Project Planner is respon­sible for deve­lo­ping, coor­di­na­ting, and main­tai­ning compre­hen­sive project sche­dules for all phases of design, engi­nee­ring, procu­re­ment, construc­tion, and commis­sio­ning within the Concentrator Department.
  • The role ensures that projects are execu­ted effi­ciently, on time, and within budget by inte­gra­ting sche­dules across multiple disci­plines and moni­to­ring progress against key milestones.

Functional respon­si­bi­li­ties :

  • Develop, main­tain, and update detai­led project sche­dules and work plans for the tailings filtra­tion plant, dry-stacking tailings faci­lity, and asso­cia­ted infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with engi­nee­ring, procu­re­ment, and construc­tion teams to inte­grate deli­ve­rables and time­lines into a single, cohe­sive master schedule.
  • Utilize MS Project or Primavera P6 for resource allo­ca­tion, miles­tone tracking, and criti­cal path analy­sis to ensure timely project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, iden­tify risks, delays, and bottle­necks, and imple­ment correc­tive actions to main­tain adhe­rence to targets.
  • Conduct regu­lar progress reviews and report on sche­dule perfor­mance, risk assess­ments, and fore­cast updates to mana­ge­ment and stakeholders.
  • Support budge­ting and cost control by aligning sche­dules with procu­re­ment and finan­cial planning.
  • Apply strong analy­ti­cal skills to inter­pret perfor­mance data, iden­tify trends, and recom­mend impro­ve­ments for project effi­ciency and reliability.
  • Incorporate tech­ni­cal unders­tan­ding of water systems, pumps, and relia­bi­lity mana­ge­ment to ensure accu­rate plan­ning of TSF and plant-rela­ted activities.
  • Ensure compliance with envi­ron­men­tal, safety, and regu­la­tory requi­re­ments through proac­tive plan­ning and documentation.
  • Mentor junior staff in plan­ning metho­do­lo­gies, soft­ware tools, and data-driven deci­sion-making to support team deve­lop­ment and project continuity.

Required expe­rience and qualifications :

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, or a rela­ted field.
  • Proven expe­rience in project plan­ning for mining process plants or infra­struc­ture projects.
  • High profi­ciency in MS Project or Primavera P6 for sche­dule deve­lop­ment and control.
  • Strong unders­tan­ding of civil, mecha­ni­cal, elec­tri­cal, and instru­men­ta­tion disciplines.
  • Excellent analy­ti­cal, orga­ni­za­tio­nal, commu­ni­ca­tion, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to colla­bo­rate effec­ti­vely with multi­dis­ci­pli­nary teams and adapt to chan­ging project demands.
