- For our client, a leading international mining organisation in West Africa, we are searching for an experienced Project Planner.
- The Project Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining comprehensive project schedules for all phases of design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning within the Concentrator Department.
- The role ensures that projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget by integrating schedules across multiple disciplines and monitoring progress against key milestones.
Functional responsibilities :
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules and work plans for the tailings filtration plant, dry-stacking tailings facility, and associated infrastructure.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate deliverables and timelines into a single, cohesive master schedule.
- Utilize MS Project or Primavera P6 for resource allocation, milestone tracking, and critical path analysis to ensure timely project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, delays, and bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain adherence to targets.
- Conduct regular progress reviews and report on schedule performance, risk assessments, and forecast updates to management and stakeholders.
- Support budgeting and cost control by aligning schedules with procurement and financial planning.
- Apply strong analytical skills to interpret performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements for project efficiency and reliability.
- Incorporate technical understanding of water systems, pumps, and reliability management to ensure accurate planning of TSF and plant-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements through proactive planning and documentation.
- Mentor junior staff in planning methodologies, software tools, and data-driven decision-making to support team development and project continuity.
Required experience and qualifications :
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project planning for mining process plants or infrastructure projects.
- High proficiency in MS Project or Primavera P6 for schedule development and control.
- Strong understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing project demands.
